Archetype Release 8 issued
October 2004
Existing user's will have their free upgrades issued to them.
More than 40 new features and options have been added since the issue
of release 7.
New features include: -
Integration with pdf files. Archetype can automatically create a pdf file
of every document created. The Archetype browser can be used to browse
for pdf files for any project.
Project Planner. A new module for planning projects has been introduced.
This allows you to programme targets or budgets for stages of a project
and then compare these with the actual resource use. A Gant chart can
be used to help programme the dates for stages.
Calendar. The new Calendar module is used to schedule appointments and
can be used to check other user's calendars and make group bookings. It
also integrates with the Resource Schedule so that bookings can include
rooms, equipment, vehicles, etc.
Incoming Documents. This new module manages incoming documents (e.g. from
consultants) recording when they arrived, which format they are in, who
they came from, their purpose (e.g. Information, Draft, For Comment, etc.
). It automatically recognises existing documents and supersedes them.
It allows access to the current versions and also the superseded versions.
Actions can be programmed with target dates (e.g. comment before 12/03/2005)
and manages the actions in terms of who is responsible, priority, when
they were completed and by whom.
Staff team. This module is used to record which members of staff are involved
in which projects. The access to project data can be restricted to staff
who are in the team for the project. Time sheet entries can also be restricted
so that staff can only enter time for projects that they are involved
with.
Correspondence Browser. The correspondence browser integrates the correspondence
modules for a project so that, in one register, you can search for correspondence
across letters, faxes, emails and memos.
