“Archetype Deployment Tool” (ADT): -
ADT is a tool to help aid the deployment of Archetype in large offices through “push” technology. It deploys update files across the network ensuring all correct file permissions are in place on Archetype workstations. ADT has been designed in Visual Studio 2003 and utilises the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 to achieve smooth cross network deployment. ADT takes advantage of Microsoft Enterprise Libraries & Application Blocks (for .NET 1.1) to automatically update when new versions of the Archetype Deployment Tool are available.

(NB: - In Dec 2006 the ADT was replaced with an alternative “pull” method of updating client PCs, which has been integrated into the control panel).

Archetype .NET Control Panel: -
Archetype .NET is a distributed application utilising Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and SQL 2005 Express as a backend data-store. As part of Archetype’s ongoing development the Archetype .NET Control Panel has been released which integrates with existing areas of Archetype, which also integrates with Microsoft Office 2003 products to provide a complete office management solution. The Archetype .NET Control Panel has been designed and written in Visual Studio 2005. It takes advantage of the functionality available in the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. The new control panel implements .NET multithreading/background processing technology to seamlessly display current tasks, calendar items, news items and alerts in the familiar Archetype control panel, automatically refreshing data from the server as applicable.
The Archetype .NET Control Panel follows the Microsoft Office 2007 UI Layout, as specified in the Microsoft Office 2007 UI Design Guidelines.
Using “pull” technology, the Archetype .NET Control Panel is able to ensure that traditional Archetype modules are kept up-to-date and match those available on the main server.
